History of Boulder

Boulder, Colorado was first called Boulder City, and it became a county seat in 1861. By 1871, Boulder dropped “city” from its name and became incorporated. Boulder continued to grow over the years, and people and businesses began to flourish. At the same time, Boulder purchased land for preservation over the years, and this continues to be an area of focus. In 2018, Boulder’s population was 107,000. Boulder is also known for being home to the University of Colorado.
